DUBLIN, Ireland, April 16, 2021 – MHT Lighting today announced the installation of panels with UV-C technology in Énergie Fitness as part of its effort to provide cleaner, safer workspaces and public spaces for all in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
- MHT Lighting provides safer environments for Énergie Fitness patrons with the introduction of ultraviolet-C (UV-C) panels in gyms.
- UV-C technology has been proven to eliminate 99.99% of airborne / surface bacteria, fungi and viruses which it has been tested, most notably the viruses.
- Safe UV-C application should be considered to help ensure healthy workspaces, schools and public spaces in the long run.
UV-C technology is an established tool for disinfection and has been proven to deactivate viruses against which it has been tested – including tuberculosis, influenza, SARS, and most recently, the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) virus.
David Tennyson – Managing Director of MHT Lighting Europe, said,
“Recirculated indoor air may contain microorganisms such as the Covid-19 virus that can infect building occupants. Applying UV-C germicidal irradiation can help to reduce these containments and the associated airborne infections.”
The role of air quality is crucial in the fight against Covid-19 and other pathogens that spread through airborne or aerosol transmission. The newly installed UV-C lights in Énergie Fitness thus help to disinfect the air in its premises, providing all patrons with a safer, cleaner environment to work or exercise in.
“As per of our commitment to safe exercise, we are delighted to partner with MHT Lighting and install their UV-C panels. We are looking forward to welcoming back our members to the gym and providing them with a clean safe environment to train in. ”
The design of safe and healthy indoor environments that minimise transmission of infections diseases encompasses many factors, including ventilation, design of traffic flows and physical touchpoints. While such design elements can greatly reduce transmission, they are limited by practical considerations. UV-C disinfection is therefore an important tool to help achieve safety, while retaining comfort and savvy design in such spaces.
Mr Tennyson said,
“The solution to an environment safe from bacteria and viruses like Covid-19 is already available. Safe UV-C applications have been around and in use for many years, and should be considered to help ensure healthy workspaces, schools and public spaces in the long run.”
